Pertamina Cilacap Refinery Burns Even Though It Hasn't Been A Month Since The Grand Safety Talk

JAKARTA - Pertamina RU VI refinery in Cilacap, Central Java caught fire on Saturday, November 13, at around 19.00 WIB. Even though it has not been a month since the refinery has just held a Grand Safety Talk.

Previously, Pertamina had released an effort to boost the performance of one of the green energy product processing units such as Green Diesel and Green Avtur, the Pertamina International Refinery (KPI) Cilacap unit carried out the renovation of the Treated Distillate Hydro Treating (TDHT) processing tank.

Work officially started after the Grand Safety Talk (GST) was held at the Fieldshack Maintenance Area (MA)-2, Fuel Oil Complex (FOC) II on Friday, October 29.

The event was marked by the reading of the commitment to Health Safety Security & Environment (HSSE) by representatives of partners signed by GM and management as well as vendor representatives and the handover of work equipment by the FOC II Manager to MA-2 Managers. (RU) IV Cilacap PT KPI Eko Sunarno, emphasized that all parties should prioritize safety aspects indiscriminately.

"The main priority in revamping TDHT unit 018 is achieving safe, quality, timely, cost-effective and environmentally friendly targets. Comply with the HSSE Golden Rules and Corporate Life Safing Rules. Both workers and contractors must remind each other, intervene if they see behavior and conditions. not safe," he ordered.

It is known, TDHT is a new unit built for the development of Green Energy by Pertamina as the implementation of the National Strategic Project (PSN) by maximizing the potential of new renewable energy resources, made from palm oil to produce environmentally friendly green energy products.

The revamping of this TDHT unit involves ± 1,000 workers and is planned to last for 40 days starting from November 1, 2021 to December 10, 2021, by continuing to establish communication and coordination across functions at Pertamina.

Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina International Refinery Ifki Sukarya in an electronic message received by the media confirmed this incident.

"It is estimated that the incident occurred around 19.30 WIB and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Pertamina, continued Ifki, is trying to extinguish the tank fire in the Cilacap refinery area.

"Currently, the Pertamina fire brigade team is trying its best to extinguish the fire in the tank area," he explained.
