DKI Jakarta Infiltration Well Budget In 2021 IDR 400 Billion, PDIP: If I Can Be Honest, It's Not Very Useful

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD Gembong Warsono views that the construction of infiltration wells with a budget of Rp. 400 billion in this year's APBD has not yielded any benefits.

"If I'm honest, he (the infiltration well) is very useless compared to the budget allocation which is so large. It's very useless. Rp. 400 billion, you know, in 2021," Gembong told reporters, Saturday, November 13.

In fact, said Gembong, PDIP has requested that part of the infiltration well budget be allocated for other flood control programs.

"Try to allocate the Rp400 billion for flood alleviation in other sectors, not in infiltration wells. Maybe it will be much more useful," he said.

The program in question is river normalization. According to Gembong, the additional budget for land acquisition in the river normalization program is more beneficial.

This is because, he assesses that the condition of rivers in Jakarta is no longer able to accommodate the high rainfall and the flow of water from upstream during the rainy season like this.

"Why is the PDIP faction fast for normalization? Because indeed our river is no longer normal, there needs to be widening. If there is widening, we have to arrange for villages along the riverbanks," said Gembong.

"If Mr. Anies wants to carry out executions, 2 jobs can be completed at once, settlement arrangements can be well-organized and then flood staging can also be carried out properly. But until the fourth year, there's nothing to do," he continued.

For information, based on records as of October 11, 6,233 infiltration wells have been built. The DKI Provincial Government is targeting 22 thousand infiltration wells to be built in 2021.
