JAMBI - The Tebo Police have collected materials and information regarding the discovery of a human skull that was thought to have died as a result of being attacked by a Sumatran tiger (Phantera tigris sumatrae). This skull was found by residents of Muara Bulan Hamlet, Pemayungan Village, Sumay District, Tebo Regency, Jambi.

Tebo Police Chief AKBP Gunawan Tri Laksono said the victim was identified as Nampay Sembiring, a resident of Rumah Galuh Village, Sei Bingai District, North Sumatra Province.

"The victims are immigrants from North Sumatra who are trying their luck to open vacant land in the area of RT 03/RW, precisely in Muara Bulan Hamlet," Tri Laksono said in an official statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 13.

Tri added that the victim had lived on the land for two years and owned a cottage. The families of the victims, such as wives and children, still live in North Sumatra.

From the crime scene, the victim's body was found not intact, separated into several parts. According to Tri Laksono, the victim's clothes were found to be in a torn condition, presumably due to a tiger bite or scratch.

"Currently, the body parts that were successfully evacuated from the crime scene have been taken to the Tebo Hospital and the victim's family is currently on their way here (Tebo-ed)," said Tri Laksono.

According to information from the BKSDA, the location where the body was found is the habitat or crossing of the Sumatran tiger. This is evidenced at the location where the body was found, traces and excrement of the Sumatran tiger were also found.

Meanwhile, from the statement of Haposan Sinaga as the head of the Sumay Mandiri Farmer Group, the victim's daily life, apart from clearing the land, also worked as a crane gardener belonging to the late Harun, a Pemayungan resident.

Pemayungan residents also saw at the location where the body was found, tigers were roaming near the victim's hut and residents asked the BKSDA to immediately evacuate the tigers that were still roaming around, because it was very disturbing to the community and hampered their daily activities.
