Ministry Of Home Affairs Socializes Selection Of Candidates For KPU And Bawaslu Members

SURABAYA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) held a socialization of the selection of candidates for members of the General Election Commission and the General Elections Supervisory Agency for the term of 2022-2027.

The Director of Ideology, Character, and National Insight at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Drajat Wisnu Setyawan, reminded that the acceptance of the registration for the selection of KPU and Bawaslu candidates will be closed on November 15.

"Furthermore, there are a number of selection stages, namely written tests and papers, psychology, health and interviews," he said during the socialization in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 12.

Drajat stated that in the end, the Selection Team will select 14 candidates for KPU members and 10 candidates for Bawaslu members who will be submitted to the President.

"Members of KPU and Bawaslu must be independent and independent," he said.

In addition, Drajat said that KPU and Bawaslu members must also have statesmanship traits so that they can work together synergistically with the government and the community to support the implementation of the nation's democracy.

Meanwhile, Head of the National Unity and Political Affairs Agency (Bakesbangpol) of East Java Province, Heru Wahono Santoso, was also a speaker in the socialization activity.

Heru encouraged representatives of KPU and Bawaslu members from East Java.

"We hope that through the selection of candidates for KPU and Bawaslu members, we can produce the nation's best figures who can carry out their duties in organizing the election. We hope that there will be representatives of KPU and Bawaslu members from East Java Province," he said.

According to Heru, the Ministry of Home Affairs has actually conducted online socialization for the past week or so.

"In the remaining 3 days of registration, the Ministry of Home Affairs finally held a face-to-face socialization in Surabaya. Because there were few interested people, especially from East Java. Hopefully, in the remaining time, East Java residents can use it to register immediately," he said.
