JAKARTA - Two perpetrators of theft in the mode of breaking a car window in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta have been arrested by the Penjaringan Police. The police chief explained that the items stolen from the victim with the initials DD were two laptop units and Rp1 million in cash which was stored in a bag and left in a car parked at PIK.
The incident occurred when the victim wanted to eat at around 18.00 WIB. However, when he returned to the vehicle an hour later, DD saw that his car window had been broken in the middle on the left, then his bag and two laptops were stolen by the thief.
According to Guruh, the suspects had broken the car's windshield with a tool. Then after the car window was broken, the two suspects were free to take the items in the car.
The arrests of the two perpetrators were based on instructions from CCTV camera footage at the scene, and witness statements.
Then the police also found evidence in the form of a car with the police number B 2733 SIO which was allegedly used by the suspect during the theft.
Based on the statements of the suspects, the theft occurred because they saw valuable items left in the vehicle.
"Meanwhile, according to the confessions of the suspects, they have only acted once," he said.
The two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) paragraphs 1 to 4e and 5e concerning theft with aggravating a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
