Waterspout Appears In Singaraja Bali Waters, BMKG Urges Residents To Be Alert To Enter The Transition Season

DENPASAR - The appearance of a tornado (waterspout) occurred in the waters of Buleleng Regency, Bali. BMKG appealed to Balinese people to be wary of entering the transition season.

In the video caption uploaded to the Instagram account @denpasarnow, it is stated that the incident was seen from Ponjok Batu, Singaraja, Buleleng Regency, Bali. From a distance, you can see the whirlwind or waterspout rotating in the waters.

Coordinator for Data and Information at the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar, Bali, Dwi Hartanto said the tornado was a natural waterspout phenomenon that occurred during the transition season.

"The phenomenon of waterspouts that appear in the sea usually occurs during the transitional and rainy seasons," said Dwi, when contacted, Thursday, November 11.

However, this phenomenon will not continue to occur and usually occurs when there are cumulonimbus clouds or other types of cumulus clouds mixed with thunderstorms and heavy rain.

"No (it will continue to exist), it usually appears when there are cumulonimbus clouds," he added.

BMKG asked the public to always be vigilant, especially fishermen if there is a waterspout phenomenon not to approach the whirlwind.

According to him, the Bali region has entered the transition season and has the potential for heavy rains that can cause floods, landslides and so on.

“Residents please be careful not to approach the vortex. We urge the public to be careful, because Bali has entered the rainy season, which can cause floods, landslides, and also strong winds such as hurricanes and waterspouts," said Dwi.
