JAKARTA - New mode of fraud. The goal was quite casual, in order to get birthday gifts from different people.
A man in Japan has just been arrested in a fraud case. His name is Takashi Miyagawa and he tricked 35 women in order to receive gifts and cards from all of them.
Takashi Miyagawa, a part-time worker from Japan's Kansai region, has told every woman he dates that his birthday is on a different date, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Thursday 11 November.
The 39-year-old was arrested for defrauding 35 women after pretending to be serious about relationships with them. Though Miyagwa's real birthday is November 13th.
In one case, Miyagwa told her 47-year-old boyfriend that her birthday was on February 22. Another victim, 40, said Miyagwa told him it was in July. A third woman, aged 35, said she believed it happened in April.
The total number of victims stands at 35 with many more to come.
In total, the women accused Miyagawa of tricking them into getting a birthday present, clothes and £665 in cash.
The suspect met his victim while working for a marketing company that sold hydrogen shower heads and other products.
He reportedly targets single women and starts every relationship with the suggestion that marriage is imminent.
However, the women eventually formed a victims' association and reported Miyagawa to the police in February.
