4 Million Sinovac Vaccines Arrive In Indonesia

JAKARTA - A total of four million Sinovac vaccines arrived in Indonesia today through the arrival of the 115th stage of the vaccine.

"Vaccines keep arriving. This time, 4 million Sinovac vaccines will arrive on November 8, 2021," said Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Johnny G. Plate, in a press statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.

After this phase 115, the total number of vaccines entering Indonesia, both in finished form and raw materials or in bulk, amounted to around 365 million doses, consisting of various brands.

The government, said Minister Johnny, is optimistic that it can achieve the target of 70 percent of Indonesia's population getting vaccinated by the end of 2021 thanks to the smooth arrival of the vaccine.

"The smooth arrival of vaccines has made efforts to accelerate and expand the vaccination program more optimal because the number of Indonesians who have been vaccinated continues to grow," said Johnny.

The government targets at least 123 million Indonesians to have received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of this year.

Johnny again reminded that vaccination is not just an effort to protect oneself, but also to protect families and the whole community.

Along with the vaccine, the government also reminds the public to maintain health protocols, especially since the rainy season has arrived.

"Stamina and endurance are maintained so that we do not become a friendly host candidate for viral diseases," said Johnny.

Last week, on Friday, November 5, Indonesia received 69,030 Pfizer vaccines in the 114th stage of arrival.

According to government data, as of early November, around 122 million or 59.2 percent of the population had been vaccinated against COVID-19. As many as 77 million of them have received two doses.

It was recorded that there were 8.8 million elderly people who had received the first dose, while there were about 5.4 million elderly people who had received the second dose. The government's total target for this group is 21.5 million people.

Vaccinations for teenagers also continue to increase, there are about 7.1 million people who get the first dose and 4.5 million people get the second dose.
