West Kalimantan Police Joint Team Arrests Carrier Of 2 Kg Shabu

PONTIANAK - A joint team from the West Kalimantan Regional Police and the West Kalimantan Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) arrested the narcotics perpetrator with the initials YP who was carrying two kilograms of methamphetamine and 5,050 ecstasy pills.

"The disclosure of the case began with information from the public that there was illicit trafficking of narcotics in Pontianak City," said Director of Drug Investigation at the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Yohanes Hernowo, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.

After receiving this information and developing it, a joint team from the West Kalimantan Regional Police and the Customs and Excise Office arrested YP in the yard of the Tanjungpura University Medical Student Dormitory, Southeast Pontianak District, on Monday, at around 02.30 in the morning.

"Then, a search was carried out on YP in front of the surrounding community, and evidence was found of one brown cardboard containing two large plastic bags, each bag containing 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and 5,050 ecstasy pills," he said.

He added that his party also found a small amount of evidence in YP's left trouser pocket, namely finding a small box containing a small plastic clip suspected of having methamphetamine weighing 1.3 grams and a yellow powder clip suspected of being ecstasy weighing 0. ,4 grams.

In addition to drug evidence, the joint team also secured other evidence in the form of two cellphones and a motorcycle.

"The perpetrator and the evidence were brought to the Office of the Narcotics Directorate of the West Kalimantan Police for further examination," he said.

Hernowo said that his party would develop the drug disclosure case because it did not rule out the possibility of other suspects.

"We will further explore what his role is, if users are not likely to carry that many illegal goods," he said.

"It is hoped that the public, especially those living in the Indonesia-Malaysia border area, will not hesitate to provide information to the nearest police if they see suspicious people crossing or in the border area, so that the authorities can immediately take steps or actions," continued Hernowo.

The suspect was charged with Article 112 Paragraph (2) and 114 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
