JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto supports various research and innovations from defense technology experts to realize a strong and independent Indonesian defense.

“The progress of defense technology depends on scientists. We really need you. We are ready to try to support your efforts and innovations," Prabowo said while visiting the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Wednesday, April 3 to discuss with technology experts released by the Ministry of Defense, Thursday, November 4.

During the meeting, Prabowo also emphasized the support of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) for the innovation of technology experts from ITB.

This support is realized through the signing of a joint agreement between the Ministry of Defense and ITB on the Implementation of Education, Research, Development of Science and Technology that Supports National Defense.

The joint agreement, which was signed by Prabowo and ITB Chancellor Reini Wirahadikusumah, aims to make Indonesia's national defense strong and independent through cooperation in education, research, development of science and technology (Iptek).

At the event, Prabowo had the opportunity to witness several research and development results carried out by ITB, including the development of AESA Radar and Passive Radar.

The two studies are a collaboration between ITB and the Ministry of Defense Research and Development Agency (Balitbang).

ITB is also developing fighter aircraft simulators and drone simulators together with Balitbang Kemhan and PT Dirgantara Indonesia. In addition, there is also research related to materials from nature for the manufacture of bullet-proof vests, propellant raw materials for rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles for serial purposes. surveillance of natural resources and the boundaries of the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

Also attending the meeting were the Secretary of the ITB Institute Widjaja Martokusumo, Chairman of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Joko Sarwono, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Dirgantara Tatacipta Dirgantara, Head of the Center for Defense and Security Technology Technology Djarot Widagdo and researchers in the field of Defense Technology Joko Suryana and Suhono Harso. In addition to ITB, previously in September Prabowo visited Airlangga University (Unair) and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) to sign a similar cooperation in the field of education, research and development of science and technology for national defense.
