The West Java Pilgub Budget Of Rp2.47 Trillion Is Unreasonable

BOGOR - West Java DPRD member Asep Wahyuwijaya, considers the Rp2.47 trillion gubernatorial election budget proposed by the local General Elections Commission (KPU) to be unreasonable.

"The West Java KPU proposed a budget of Rp2.47 trillion for the purposes of the 2024 gubernatorial election, which is excessive and unreasonable," said the member of the Regional Regulations Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the West Java DPRD when contacted in Bogor, reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 3.

According to him, the budget is much higher when compared to other provinces, such as the Central Java Provincial Government only preparing Rp900 billion for the reserve fund for the 2024 Pilgub implementation.

"I and other Bapemperda (West Java DPRD) members have a comparative study with the Central Java Provincial DPRD. In Central Java, it turns out that the regional regulation has been completed with a budget amount of only Rp. 900 billion.

He said that the budget difference proposed by the West Java KPU was too far, considering that the difference in the number of the final voter lists (DPT) in West Java and Central Java was only five million people.

Asep considers that the idea of holding the gubernatorial election independently is wrong, the article is that the Pilkada agenda in 2024 is carried out simultaneously and has become a national political agenda.

"Well, because there is a simultaneous agenda in the regional elections, the budget for its implementation should also be streamlined by sharing budget items between the provincial KPU and the regency or city KPU," said the chairman of the West Java DPRD Democratic Party faction.

Then, he compared it to the 2018 Simultaneous Pilkada, at that time the West Java gubernatorial election was also held simultaneously with the Mayoral Election (Pilwalkot) and the Regent Election (Pilbup) in 16 regions with only a budget of Rp1.8 trillion. The West Java Provincial Government allocated Rp1.1 trillion, but at that time only Rp900 billion was used by the local KPU.

He suggested to the West Java KPU to immediately coordinate with the KPU at the city and district levels, so that they can rearrange budget requirements that are efficient and realistic.

"So the West Java KPU doesn't have to bother asking the provincial government for the budget for TPS and PPK officers. If that can be done, then the Rp1.6 trillion proposal for that need can be crossed out. West Java KPUD needs for the gubernatorial election which will be synchronized with the Pilbup and Pilwalkkot elections," he explained.
