JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan immediately imposes progressive fines on health protocol violators during the Phase 1 Transition Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period which has been extended for the third time.
Anies said the policy was applied not only to offices or companies that were threatened with sanctions for closure, but also to individuals who repeatedly violated them.
"They will get a heavier fine than the first offense," said Anies at Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, July 30.
Anies emphasized that this is not about the government giving sanctions to get fine money, but about the safety of the community.
"This is about protecting others," said Anies.
Therefore, to the entire community, Anies advised to enforce health protocols with 3M (using masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands diligently).
In addition, Anies also asked the public to remind each other if there were other people who did not implement health protocols including the use of masks and distance guarding.
"Show that we are responsible, we care for public health, the health of our environment by wearing masks and complying with health protocols," said Anies.
He also reminded all people not to do activities outside the home if it is not urgent considering that Jakarta is still in a state of the COVID-19 outbreak.
"So our way to survive is to stay at home more. And if you have to go, there must be activities (outside your home), so make sure that the capacity of your place of activity is not more than 50 percent," said Anies.
Anies extended the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) Phase 1 Transition Period in Jakarta for another 14 days, from 31 July to 13 August.
This extension is the third time for Phase 1 Transitional PSBB after previously being carried out on July 2-16 and July 17-30.
