Closer To Andika Perkasa, Romantic General Candidate For TNI Commander, Firm And Caring For Orphans

JAKARTA - TNI General Andika Perkasa, SE, MA, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. is a high-ranking officer who has served as the Army Chief of Staff (KASAD) since November 22, 2018. His figure replaces General TNI Mulyono who will retire in 2019.

On Wednesday, November 3 today, the name of the former Pangkostrad was received by the Indonesian House of Representatives. Andika was chosen by Jokowi as a candidate to replace Hadi Tjahjanto.

"The president proposed only one candidate for approval. KASAD General Andika Perkasa", said Indonesian Parliament Speaker, Puan Maharani. After this Andika Perkasa will immediately undergo a fit and proper test.

Long before President Jokowi handed it over to the Indonesian Parliament, Andika's name was certainly familiar in the media. His various activities in the military world to his romantic side with his wife, Diah Erwiany Trisnamurti Hendrati Hendropriyono did not go unnoticed.

The figure of Andika Perkasa seems to be a romantic general, you know. This was shown during an official trip to Baturaja, South Sumatra to take part in the 15th Garuda Shield Joint Exercise.

 

Andika reviewed several locations used in the 15th Garuda Shield Latma, last September. The first location visited was the Garuda Hall as the venue for the Staff Exercise material, reported from TNI AD YouTube.

“It's good to see everyone here because you guys are so inspiring. I've spoken to a platoon medical officer to learn about this US Army field hospital. Don't mind if the Indonesian Army medical personnel ask what this field hospital has, so we can add what we don't have", said KASAD.

Firm in attitude

From a romantic perspective, Andika Perkasa is also firm about principles and professionalism. This was shown by the former Commander of the Presidential Security Forces (Danpaspamres) during a speech giving an ultimatum to rogue elements who collect military education fees. A snippet of Andika's statement even went viral and became the talk of netizens.

Andika's firm speech was made during the 2021 TNI AD leadership meeting (Rapim) which took place offline and online at the end of last April.

“I don't want any more dues, whatever the reason. We used to have our first education, there were no fees. The agency, Personnel Assistant in this case, has already planned (budgeting). There is food allowance, pocket money, or whatever the name is before being sworn in",

“Until I receive the report, watch out! I'll give you two weeks. Each of the commanders had cleaned up, searched down. Two weeks from now there are still reports, so be ready. Don't hesitate, I'll prove it", he said.

Caring for Orphans

KASAD General Andika Perkasa specifically entrusted the 3rd-grade junior high school boy to the Yogyakarta Danrem. The boy aspires to become a soldier in the Indonesian Army.

Andika and his wife Hetty came to Korem 072/Pamungkas, Yogyakarta. They met orphans around Yogyakarta. Some died from illness to COVID-19. This moment was recorded on the TNI AD YouTube which was published on Tuesday, October 12.

At first, Andika came to the children one by one. Andika asked one by one the identity of the children. One of them was named Enzi. At that time Andika asked Enzi's aspirations.

"What do you want to be?", asked Andika.

"Want to be an Army!", replied Enzi firmly.

"Right?", Andika said.

Andika's eyes then searched for something. He wanted to make sure Enzi's dreams didn't run aground.

"Which Danrem (072/Pamungkas)?", Andika said.

"I'll leave this", Andika asked Col. Inf Afianto.

Andika assessed that Enzi's desire to become a TNI AD soldier was right for his age. There are still three years to be able to prepare everything.

"This timing is actually perfect, I ask the Danrem to prepare for what information needs to be prepared", he said.

Profile of TNI General Andika Perkasa

• He started his career as the first infantry officer in the Kopassus Group 2 / Para Command and Unit-81 / Counter-Terrorism for 12 years.
• After being assigned to the Department of Defense and TNI AD Headquarters, he returned to serve in the Red Beret Corps as Commander of Battalion 32/Apta Sandhi Prayuda Utama, Group 3 /Sandhi Yudha.
• Two days after Jokowi was elected for the first time as president of the Republic of Indonesia in 2014, the name Andika Perkasa was immediately trusted to lead the Commander of the Presidential Security Forces (Danpaspamres), which was followed by a promotion to Major General on October 22, 2014, during his inauguration.
• In early 2018 he was lined up as the Commander of the Indonesian Army's Doctrine, Education and Training (Dankodiklat) Command. Six months later in the same year, he was appointed Pangkostrad (Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command).
• On October 22, 2014, Andika was promoted to Major General when he was assigned as the Commander of President Joko Widodo's Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) in 2014.
