ACEH - Customs and Excise officers and the Central Aceh Satpol PP confiscated 560 packs of illegal cigarettes from traders during a raid conducted in the local area on Monday, November 1.

The raid was carried out together with officers from the Customs and Excise Service and Supervision Office for Customs Type C (KPPBC TMP C) Lhokseumawe.

Acting Kasatpol PP and WH of Central Aceh Regency, Ariansyah AR said his party confiscated at least 11,200 cigarettes or 560 packs of illegal cigarettes.

"This raid targeted two sub-districts, namely Pegasing and Bies sub-districts. Officers managed to confiscate 560 packs of illegal cigarettes of various brands," he said in Takengon as reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

According to him, the raid was a follow-up to the socialization that had been carried out in mid-September 2021 to traders. Selling illegal cigarettes is tantamount to violating the provisions of the law and causing state losses.

Head of KPPBC TMP C Lhokseumawe M Munif explained that the characteristics of illegal cigarettes can be found, such as plain cigarettes or not with excise tape attached, cigarettes with fake excise stamps, used excise duty, excise duty that is not in accordance with its designation, and cigarettes with an excise tape attached that is not an excise stamp. the manufacturer.

According to him, there are many losses that can be caused by the circulation of illegal cigarettes, namely in terms of health because it cannot be ascertained what substances are contained in them.

Second, in terms of state revenue. With the circulation of illegal cigarettes that do not pay excise duty or pay excise incorrectly, there is a potential loss of state revenue from excise taxes.
