Riau Islands Provincial Government Pursues Citizen And Private Tax Receivables, Including Aim For Labuh Anchor Retribution

RIAU - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) is pursuing citizen and company tax receivables to optimize the potential for regional income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are optimizing all potential, intensification will be carried out", said Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad in Batam, Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

To boost income from taxes, the Riau Islands Provincial Government includes a policy of eliminating fines for motor vehicle taxes. This is done to encourage taxpayers to fulfill their obligations.

It also takes into account receivables from private parties that have not been paid.

"We will pursue the ATB (Intangible Assets) tax which we still owe us IDR 40 billion, the intensity will be strengthened", he said.

In addition, his party also carried out extensification, such as levies for anchoring, the withdrawal of which is still constrained by the policies of the central government.

He said he was still trying to meet with the central government to get anchor fees.

"In terms of authority, our guide is sufficient, namely Law 23 of 2014. But when it comes to the redefinition of retribution, we must translate it together", he said.

The governor is optimistic that his party will be able to collect the anchor levy if good discussions are held with the Ministry of Transportation.

"I don't want to insist, because we have to maintain a relationship", he said.
