Refly Harun Predicts Jusuf Kalla 'Going Down The Mountain,' Intensively Lobbying Political Parties For Anies' Vehicles In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Constitutional law expert Refly Harun predicts Jusuf Kalla (JK) will 'go down the mountain' in the country's political map towards the 2024 presidential election. Anies Baswedan, a figure who has been prominent in various survey results, will be partnered with JK as a presidential candidate.

According to Refly, there are 2 important tasks that will be played by JK for Anies. First, he will look for including lobbying a number of political parties as Anies' vehicles in the 2024 presidential election.

"So JK is not a passive figure who will sit down to see who the presidential candidate is. But he will look for political parties and find the vice president. There JK will play a maximum role, especially supporting parties," explained Refly via the Youtube channel @Refly Harun quoted Tuesday, October 2.

However, the task of finding Anies's companion (vice presidential candidate) is difficult considering that there is a presidential threshold that requires a coalition of political parties. If Anies officially joins a party, of course the coalition ranks will offer a vice presidential candidate from an internal political party cadre.

"If, for example, PKS supports, Democrats support, then there is only one party left. If Democrats support, for example, they will go forward with the proposal of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as vice presidential candidate," said Refly.

It's no secret that JK is close to Anies Baswedan, even though their relationship is rarely exposed by the media. One of the advantages of JK as Anies' 'US card' is his expertise in politics.

An example is the relationship with fellow senior politicians. For example Megawati Soekarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Prabowo Subianto or Joko Widodo. JK, continued Refly, even though he had partnered with SBY or Megawati, he still maintained good relations.
