PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Regional Police arrested three specialists in transnational theft covering the continents of Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Southwest Asia. They were arrested while hiding in Ogan Ilir Regency.

Deputy Director of the General Crime Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Police, AKBP Tulus Sinaga, said the three suspects, namely Arifin Paris Syarkowi (48), a resident of Jalan Sarjana Perum Griya Imania, Timbangan Village, Ogan Ilir; Erwin Aprianto (42) a resident of Neighborhood VIII, Jua-jua Village, Kayuagung District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency; and Agus Isrok (51) residents of Kepeyang Street, Rajabasa Pemuka Village, Rajabasa District, Lampung, Lampung Province.

"The three suspects are the perpetrators of transnational theft, there are 11 countries including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, and Thailand. They were arrested at the same time at one of the houses of suspect Arifin in Perum Griya Imania, Timbangan Village, Ogan Ilir", he said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

According to him, the suspect's transnational crime was revealed after officers carried out the development of the last theft case carried out by the suspect on Saturday, October 9 at around 20.00 WIB, at the Palembang-Indralaya Cross, Timbangan Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency.

In their last action, the suspect managed to get away with a bag containing IDR 128 million in cash.

Meanwhile, Head of Sub Directorate 3 Jatanras Police, Commissioner CS Panjaitan, said during the arrest operation the officers were forced to take decisive action because the suspect tried to fight back to escape.

"Three who were caught were given strict measures. One of them died on the way to the hospital. Two suspects are currently being held at the Police Headquarters for questioning", he said.

Of the two suspects, officers obtained the identity of another suspect named Bambang, who was said to have been involved in the glass-shattering action.

Currently, officers are still investigating the involvement of other perpetrators while Bambang is on the wanted list (DPO) for immediate arrest.
