Extreme Weather Disrupts Anyma's Coachella 2026 Appearance

JAKARTA - The Coachella music festival had to face natural obstacles on the opening night of its first weekend. One of the much-anticipated performances from Anyma, an Italian-American disco, was surprisingly canceled in the last minutes.

The bitter decision was made following the bad weather conditions - strong winds hit the festival location at the Empire Polo Club, Indio, California.

Originally, Anyma was scheduled to take the main stage at midnight, about 90 minutes after Sabrina Carpenter's performance. However, at 00.17 local time, the organizers sent a sudden warning via the official Coachella app to all visitors who had crowded the stage area.

The message brought disappointing news for electronic music fans who have been waiting for the futuristic visual action typical of the DJ.

"Due to the strong winds that affected the structure of the Anyma stage building, he was unable to perform tonight," read an official statement from the organizers, quoted by Variety, Monday, April 13.

The preventive step was taken to ensure the safety of all parties involved at the location. "Coachella and Anyma have made this decision together by prioritizing your safety as the top priority. Further updates will follow soon," the statement continued.

As for the audience who watched through the live streaming service at home, the cancellation was confirmed through a written statement that appeared under the Main Stage category.

Until now, there has been no official information regarding the possibility of a rescheduled appearance for Anyma, considering the festival will still take place every weekend, until April 19.

The first day of this year's Coachella actually opened with incredible energy. A series of top musicians such as Dijon, Disclosure, and Turnstile successfully rocked the stage.

Sabrina Carpenter, the main performer that night, even surprised the public by bringing special guests such as Susan Sarandon and Will Ferrell.

Even though the Anyma incident was a stain on the opening night, enthusiasm was still high in welcoming the schedule of other performers such as Justin Bieber and Karol G who also warmed up the California desert in the following days.
