Doja Cat Defends Madonna from Netizen Attack

JAKARTA - Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, better known as Doja Cat, openly defended the world's pop icon, Madonna, who has recently become the target of netizen bullying regarding her age.

Through a video upload on TikTok, the singer of "Paint the Town Red" criticized netizen comments that said Madonna was too old to perform on stage and asked her to retire immediately.

In the video which lasts almost two minutes, Doja Cat expressed her surprise and anger at the ageism phenomenon that befell the diva.

He questioned the logic of critics who forbid a professional musician to do his job just because of age.

According to Doja, Madonna's success in maintaining her existence for decades should be an inspiration, not a source of ridicule.

"This is interesting to me, because it's like you're telling a musician who creates music and presents it as a job to stop doing it? I'm trying to understand the logic behind it," Doja Cat said, quoting her uploaded video, Friday, April 10.

Furthermore, Doja suspects that the hatred directed at Madonna is rooted in the public's discomfort at seeing an elderly woman who still feels sexy and powerful. He assessed that there was a double standard that was often applied to female artists in the entertainment industry.

"Is that the reason why you want him to get off the stage? Because you feel threatened by an older woman who can do her job forever?" asked Doja, who then laughed at the haters who he thought had unresolved personal problems.

This defense action came after Madonna successfully completed the Celebration Tour, which broke the world record. The tour was closed with a free concert on Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, which was attended by more than 1.6 million people.

In addition, Madonna also recently performed stunningly in an intimate performance at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Milan.

Meanwhile, Doja Cat herself is at the peak of her career. After appearing at the Global Citizen Move Africa festival in South Africa last March, she is scheduled to continue the Vie Tour series which will begin in Dublin on May 19.

The promotional tour for the album "Scarlet" which managed to occupy the fourth position on the Billboard 200 will cross Europe to the United States, and end at Madison Square Garden on December 1.
