JAKARTA - The shocking news comes from Brady Ebert, former guitarist and founder of Turnstile, who was officially kicked out of his latest music project, The SET.
The dismissal comes just weeks before The SET is scheduled to release their debut EP titled "Self Evident Truth" on March 6.
The decision was made by The SET management following a series of controversial and provocative statements made by Ebert on social media.
Through an official statement on Instagram, the band confirmed that they did not want to be associated with the guitarist's behavior which was considered detrimental to the community.
"Brady is no longer a member of THE SET. We will not stand by his ridiculous comments and behavior towards our band members and our community," read a statement from The SET, quoted Tuesday, February 10.
The conflict began when Ebert publicly attacked his former bandmate at Turnstile. He accused the band, which had just won a Grammy, of only doing "image politics".
At its peak, Ebert accused Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates of embezzling funds from a charity concert.
Ebert claimed that Turnstile managed to raise $10,000 in a charity event for the homeless. However, he said Yates took most of the money for personal gain with no reasonable excuse.
"They claimed all ticket sales were donated to homeless health services. In fact, they got 10,000 dollars, then Brendan stole 4,000 dollars from the income and claimed to do it because he needed to pay the merchandise bill," wrote Ebert in a comment on social media that went viral.
Not stopping there, the guitarist also re-argued his legal dispute in 2022 when he left Turnstile. At that time, Daniel Fang (drums) had filed a detention order against him, although it was eventually rejected by the court.
Ebert called his former colleagues' actions an attempt to tarnish his reputation without strong evidence.
Until now, the Turnstile party has chosen to remain silent and refused to comment on the oblique allegations.
In contrast, Turnstile is actually at the peak of his career after successfully winning the Best Rock Album category for the album "Never Enough" and Best Metal Performance for the song "Birds" at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
