JAKARTA - Violet Grohl, singer and eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, introduces her latest single titled "What's Heaven Without You".

The latest work of the 19-year-old musician comes as a deep tribute to late filmmaker and musician David Lynch, on the exact anniversary of his passing.

Through the song, Violet presents an atmosphere inspired directly from Lynch's cinematic aesthetic, which is known for being surreal and haunted, where the song's creative process was worked on with Persia Numan and Justin Raisen.

"This song was written in memory of him (David Lynch) with two of my favorite collaborators in the world, Persia Numan and Justin Raisen," Violet said, quoting a statement on Instagram, Friday, January 23.

Violet also explained that the song was born from the atmosphere of grief that enveloped Los Angeles after the great fire that hit in early 2025.

The sadness and destruction caused by the disaster were fully expressed in the musical composition he worked on.

"A few days after the chaos and destruction of the LA fire, we gathered in our grief and let it flow into this song," Violet said. "We hope you can find resonance in it."

Musically, "What's Heaven Without You" presents a hazy landscape of sound, accompanied by minimalist distorted guitar lines and subtle percussion.

This project will strengthen Violet's productivity in early 2026, after last month releasing "THUM" and "Applefish".

Currently, Violet is reportedly completing her debut solo album with producer Justin Raisen, who has previously successfully handled artists of the caliber of Kim Gordon to Charli XCX.

Violet Grohl's track record in the music industry has continued to rise since she started joining as a backing singer for Foo Fighters in 2018. She is known to have collaborated with her father on the cover song "Nausea" by the punk band X in 2021, as well as performing at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in 2022.

At its peak, Violet briefly filled in as lead vocalist when the remaining members of Nirvana performed a short reunion at the Fire Aid charity concert.
