Remembering The Figure Of Didi Kempot As The Jakarta Occupational Health And Safety Ambassador

JAKARTA - During his lifetime, Didi Kempot was not only known as a legendary tasters musician. He was also named the DKI Jakarta Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Ambassador.

Even though he has only been named the Ambassador of the Arts for K3 for 4 months, Didi's contribution can be recognized. Head of the Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency Andri Yansyah reminisced about the Safety Excelent concert with Didi Kempot last January.

There, said Andri, DKI residents and workers who were present were enthusiastic about watching Didi sing his song. With the acceptance of Didi by many audiences, said Andri, it proves that the coronation of "Godfather of Broken Heart" to become a K3 Ambassador is appropriate.

"Previously, regional music was difficult for jazz, pop, and rock fans to accept. Now, with that consideration, that's why he automatically joined the workers and we made Didi as the Ambassador of K3," Andri told reporters, Tuesday, 5 May.

As a Jakarta K3 Ambassador, Andri said, Didi always delivered messages about the importance of maintaining occupational health and safety at each concert. The delivery of this message is usually delivered for one minute between concerts.

"So, frankly, the Indonesian people are losing, especially for the Jakarta Manpower Office," said Andri.

As previously reported, Didi Kempot passed away, Tuesday, May 5 in the morning at Kasih Ibu Solo Hospital. The man who is familiarly called "Lord Didi" died at the age of 53.

This man whose full name is Dionisius Prasetyo was born in Solo, Central Java on December 31, 1966. He is the son of comedian Ranto Edi Gude known as Mbah Ranto and the younger brother of one of the senior comedians Srimulat Mamik Podang.

Didi Never Graduated from High School

Lord Didi never graduated from high school. With his father's potent message saying, 'being a successful artist doesn't have to be in high school but with talent, capable abilities and hard work', Didi Kempot started his musical career as a street singer in 1984.

Creating many songs while living on the streets of Solo and Yogyakarta by busking from one bus to another, Didi Kempot is determined to move to Jakarta hoping that a producer will be interested and take him to a recording studio.

Not in vain. Lord Didi's first album, Stasiun Balapan was released in 1999. Banyu Langit, Aku Ora Dolan, Neng Pacitan and Segoro Tuban are other proofs of the success of a Didi Kempot.

So far, Didi Kempot has produced seven albums, namely Balapan Station (1999), Plong (2000), Ketaman Asmoro (2001), Poko'e Melu (2002), Cucak Rowo (2003), Jambu Alas with Nunung Alvi (2004) , and Ono Opo (2005). These albums gave birth to dozens of hits.

With a classy existence and a multitude of fantastic works, Didi Kempot has succeeded in forming a fan base with the name Sobat Ambyar. This community is increasingly existing as Lord Didi's popularity increases. Previously, the term Kempoters also appeared to identify Didi Kempot's fans. However, this designation developed among young people to become Sad Boys (for boys) and Sad Girls (for girls).

The majority of Ambyar's friends are of the younger generation. This shows that Didi Kempot's work is of interest across generations. This community was formed through an event held by Rumah Blogger Indonesia in Solo in mid-June 2019.

The existence of these young fans has made Didi Kempot crowned the Godfather of Broken Heart (Javanese: Mr Loro Ati Nasional; Mr Broken Heart Nasional).
