Dee Lestari Returns to the Roots of Music with the Single "(Don't) Fall in Love"

JAKARTA - Dewi Lestari Simangunsong, better known as Dee Lestari, finally decided to embrace her true self in the world of vocal music.

After almost two decades of being known to the public through a series of best-selling books, the Batak-blooded woman who was born in Bandung officially released her latest single titled "(Don't) Fall in Love".

"Good news for those who can't wait to fall in love even though they've been told not to," Dee said about his song, quoting an Instagram statement, Sunday, January 18.

Not only a single release, this single also opens the way for the birth of the third solo album that has been awaited for 17 years.

The decision to return to the recording studio began with a personal turning point. The departure of his father in 2024 left Dee deeply saddened. In the silence of his home, he tried to treat his grief by singing using a simple device.

An activity that was originally just a distraction actually became a healing "ritual" that revived his passion for music. Dee realized that his heart was vibrating again through the tone, until the determination to work on a full album became unanimous.

In this latest release, Dee collaborated with other musicians. The producer's seat was occupied by Rendy Pandugo, while the vocal director was entrusted to Teddy Adhitya.

This collaboration produced a warm musical arrangement with rich guitar layers, as well as vocal harmonies that have been Dee's signature since the beginning.

The lyrics of the song "(Don't) Fall in Love" itself portray the inner struggle between logic and feelings - a poetic but straightforward theme that has always been Dee's main strength in writing songs.

Dee's return to the music scene is fully supported by a management team consisting of Arie Dagienkz, Riko Prayitno from the band Mocca, Bayu Fajri, and Anthono.

Before being officially released on various digital streaming platforms, this song was introduced in a limited way in a showcase titled "Bocor Tipis" in Jakarta and Yogyakarta, which received a warm response from loyal fans.

Through the new single and upcoming album, Dee Lestari hopes that his work will be a remedy for those who have long been waiting for his musical touch.
