JAKARTA - The 40th Golden Disc Awards (GDA), South Korea's prestigious music awards, successfully opened the 2026 page with a festive atmosphere.

The event, which took place at the Taipei Dome, Taiwan, last weekend, was a silent witness to the crowning of the best works of the past year.

This year is a new historical record for GDA. In addition to giving the Bonsang trophy (Main Award) for the 10 Best Albums and 10 Best Digital Songs, the organizers introduced a third Daesang (Main Award) category, namely Artist of the Year.

Stray Kids managed to bring home the Album of the Year title with the album "KARMA". Meanwhile, G-Dragon reaffirmed his fangs in the music industry by winning Song of the Year through the song "Home Sweet Home".

Completing the line-up of major winners, Jennie was officially crowned the first Artist of the Year in the history of the new category.

According to GDA regulations, the Daesang winner is selected from the Bonsang winners who are judged based on sales performance (physical or digital albums) and expert council assessment.
