JAKARTA - Less than half of Fajar Endra Taruna Mangkudisastro's age, alias Mr. Jarwo has been celebrated and passed with NAIF with all its noise. When NAIF's journey seemed to enter the final chapter, he was the only one who survived, but at the same time confirmed that his band would never be a four-person reunion. Rather than waiting for a reunion, he is more focused on being grateful for his talent by consistently producing his own work.

So far, there have been three albums released by Mr. Jarwo throughout his career. Starting from 1st Journey (2009), his work continued in 2021 through the album Anti Rebahan and Nurani Akhlak Ilmu Filosofi which of course is not a coincidence that his name refers to the band whose name was initiated by Dodot, or Anjas Setio Asmoro.

Several singles released as Mr. Jarwo managed to steal the attention, such as More Menyala with Abdel Achrian, or Tutup Pintu, a song about betrayal which was inspired by unexpected things.

"That's the story about betrayal, only if the original theme gets inspiration from a friend who confides in, because he is with his friend who has an investment, only it turns out that the investment is wrong. Suddenly, I was given this idea from Above, and I made a song, and it finally became a song. In a song like that, the easiest thing for people to hear is about love, so sometimes things that are not related to love are linked to love," said Jarwo behind the inspiration of the song Close the Door.

Each album is a new phase that illustrates the depth of the musician. Mr. Jarwo also revealed that he was preparing the fourth album which is planned to be released this year.

"At the end of 2025, Mr. Jarwo is busy preparing an album that is supposedly early 2026 that is trying to be released," he said in a special interview with VOI recently.

"So the album wants to return to the principle of music this time. Maybe the big theme is more retro, to vintage. That's what we want to turn on again. Yesterday we released the single, it's more lit. Now make it retro, it's more lit. I guess I want to go there again," he explained.

Meanwhile, in terms of lyrics, in this new episode Mr. Jarwo wants to thicken the positive aura. As for the story about heartbreak, it will be packaged with lyrics that are retrospective with an optimistic point of view.

"If the lyrical theme of the song is still average, this song is still a romantic theme, love. More to, there are those who are like waiting for certainty, or those who are not kept, or, what is it, but more to the positive energy," said the guitarist born on November 24, 1974.

Mr. Jarwo's journey as a music entity continues, even said to be faster in 2026. So, what about the past that hasn't ended?

The news of NAIF's dissolution that surfaced in 2021 still leaves a sense of curiosity. Many regretted the dissolution of the band that sang Posesif, Jikalau and various vintage songs full of longing.

Moreover, recently David Bayu has also circulated on various podcasts to share stories about NAIF in the midst of promoting his solo work. The appearance of the vocalist has revived the discourse about the reasons why the band disbanded.

"I don't really care about that, I think more about making new works. And that is expressing yourself. What is clear is that when it comes to NAIF, I never said that I was out of NAIF, that's one. And then the legal affairs of NAIF and behind the scenes I have handed over everything to the lawyer. So I don't care about that," said Jarwo behind the status of NAIF which 'dissolved'.

When the band is no longer active, Jarwo said there was no problem regarding the distribution of royalties. However, for the use of their works in business is still a problem.

"If the royalties are definitely from the publisher. Because all the works of naive songs are registered with the publisher. So who is the creator, who makes the lyrics, makes the music, it's all there. So it's automatically divided. Well, if it's a business matter, it's a pity that it can't work until now," said Jarwo, who was accompanied by his wife, Noni Ara.

The discussion about the reunion has also emerged in cyberspace lately. Jarwo believes that NAIF's reunion with the complete formation, four personnel will not happen.

"The last time I said that to my lawyer, yes, if it's about NAIF, don't take any initiative from me, I'm tired. This time I'm going to do it, if the four of us meet, it's impossible. So it's impossible to call NAIF a reunion," he said.

"Because what I can't open here, the case is very sad. So for all those who want NAIF reunion, I apologize, honestly for a reunion, besides God Subhanahu Wata'ala who allows it, there will be no NAIF reunion.

Some people who know the behind-the-scenes story may be able to understand the reason for this attitude. Fans are just hoping, but the situation will determine it. At least fans can still feel the NAIF music DNA from the members who are still active, including Jarwo.

"The important thing is that I want to make a work, I want to share positive spirit to those who used to or are still listening to NAIF. Those who might miss the retroism or old things, want to turn on the retro in 2026," said Mr. Jarwo.

In the midst of the collective memory of NAIF being intact, noisy, and up to the seventh album, Jarwo has full confidence to continue working. Not in a bitter tone, its consistency is proof of an artist's journey in pouring his heart and all his thoughts into his work.
