JAKARTA - Satrio Yudi Wahono alias Piyu sees the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) in today's music world as similar to the emergence of various existing technologies.
As is known, the history of music cannot be separated from the development of music, from the classic era in the West to contemporary music in various parts of the world.
The Padi Reborn guitarist who is also the Chair of the All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) said AI, as a type of renewable technology, has two sides "positive and negative" which is the same as other technologies.
"It's the same with all technology, there must be two knives. One will be positive and the other will be negative," Piyu told the media crew in Senayan, Central Jakarta some time ago.
How the impact of AI on the development of music, said Piyu, really depends on musicians as users.

"If the user can take advantage of it for his creativity and make it easier or makes his creation even greater, that's good. It means positive," said the 52-year-old guitarist.
"But if someone takes advantage of it for bad things, that's negative," he added.
Seeing the impact of AI on song and music creation, Piyu sees the need for a rule that can prevent a bad impact on the music ecosystem.
He also encouraged the rules regarding AI to be included in the agenda for the revision of the Copyright Law which is currently being worked on in the DPR.
"During technological developments, there must be a balance of the legal umbrella that we must make. Now, we also discuss the revision (Cipta Law) regarding AI regulations. So, which one we must protect, which one we don't," he said.
