Billy Sheehan Dedicates His Life To Appear On Stage

JAKARTA - At the age of 72 years, Billy Sheehan showed that his passion for music and playing on stage never faded.

His dedication in music is not just work, but a philosophy of life. He even straightforwardly expressed the same passion on stage.

"I live to play live, and I play live," Sheehan said, in a recent interview with Andertons Music Co.

"That should be my next tattoo. Yes, that's what I did," he said.

Sheehan emphasized that his love for music in any capacity "specifically while on tour" even though he realized there were musicians who preferred to become studio musicians.

For him, the experience of being on the main stage, in the presence of a hot and sweaty crowd as he felt during tours across Europe and Great Britain, presents incredible nights.

The moment of togetherness after the concert, meeting old friends, adds to the perfection of the tour experience.

Furthermore, the bassist who is known as the founder of Mr. Big tells the interesting side of the tour journey he enjoys. He said the tour buses used felt comfortable, especially in Europe, which often uses high-level buses.

Tours in the US are also fairly easy, while trips to Japan are called luxury because the crew take very good care of the musicians.

However, Sheehan emphasized that the essence of everything is a vital session of one and a half to two hours on stage. This moment is the most important thing in his world. He sees live performances as a proving event where all the hours, days, weeks and years of training are performed.

"This is for demonstrations all the hours, days, weeks, and years that you present are now being shown. And hopefully it will be successful, hopefully it will be successful," he said.

Sheehan added that live performance is his top priority, and he prefers band format. He likes the dynamics of working and interacting with known bandmates, as he experienced with various guitarists he has worked with.

And I prefer a band, where you have people you know and you work with and interact with them. And you know where they are going, "said Sheehan.

The various guitar players I've played with, we have instincts, similar to the way I talk to drummers. We know where the opponent is going. I know when to step down and when to move forward. This is a great dynamical thing... It's great."

During his music career, Billy Sheehan has strengthened a number of major bands, including Talas, David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Niacin, The Winery Dogs, and Sons of Apollo.

With a unique and original style of play, he has been widely recognized, winning several times Guitar Player's version of the "Best Bass Player" poll. Its significant contribution to rock and roll music was immortalized with his signature and signature at the Hollywood RockWalk at Guitar Center.

Currently, even Mr. Big is undergoing The Big Finish Tour which marks their farewell concert, Billy Sheehan doesn't stop. He is preparing a new music project with his other band and continues to actively share his knowledge through masterclass sessions.
