Voice Concert: The Initial Nada Relives The Maestro's Works, WR Soepratman

JAKARTA On Tuesday, October 28, the Ministry of Culture held a Sound' concert at the National Awakening Museum, Jakarta. This concert revives the work of the maestro, the composer of the song Indonesia Raya, WR Soepratman, to the 100th anniversary of the Youth Pledge.

A total of seven compositions of WR Soepratman are performed in the format of the quartet string, including Indonesia Tjantik, Mother Kita Kartini, East of the Sun, to the Free Hero. Endah N Rhesa and the art community of hermitted Home Museum partners also appeared on the stage.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that this concert is a way to revive historical memory that sparked national awareness.

"Reviving the work of WR Soepratman is a reminder that our unity was born from the courage of young people against the invaders in voice and tone," said the Minister of Culture.

He reiterated the history of the repression of Indonesia Raya in the Second Youth Congress. WR Soepratman played his violin in the spirit of struggle and recorded it with his best friend, Yo Kim Tjan, in the keroncong version.

Fadli said maestro's work must continue to be brought closer to the younger generation. "Young people today must be able to feel the same spirit when WR Soepratman plays Indonesia Raya for the first time," he said.

Not only concerts, temporary exhibitions featuring the original WR Soepratman violin, the first black plate, and gramophone that screened Indonesia Raya complements the special experience of visitors.

Voice: Early Nada' is the opening program for the annual series of votes (Votion, Expression, Action, Rasa, Asa) towards the Youth Congress 2.0 welcoming a century of Youth Pledge in 2028. This event was attended by the families of the Youth Pledge leaders and officials of the Ministry of Culture.

Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized that full support for this concert is a strategic step to preserve the work of maestro as well as advance Indonesian music.
