JAKARTA - Ari Lasso refuses to remain silent despite Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI) providing an official explanation regarding the issue of incorrectly sent royalty distribution reports.

Via Instagram, the former Dewa 19 vocalist launched a "petition" calling for an audit of WAMI's performance in managing music royalties.

"Come on, those who agree with the petition, clench your fists!" wrote Ari, quoting the caption of a post on Wednesday, August 12.

Ari is not only calling on musicians, but also inviting event organizers (EOs), artist management companies, promoters, cafe, karaoke, and restaurant owners, and other interested parties to support the petition.

Contrary to previous statements, the 52-year-old singer chose not to encourage state institutions, such as the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), to get involved.

Ari suggested that the musicians should hire an independent auditor to audit WAMI.

"And we shouldn't ask for help from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), or anyone else; they're likely busy with more pressing national affairs. Let's just pool our resources to hire an independent auditing firm," Ari said.

"If we have enough money, we could even hire Price Waterhouse Coopers (to conduct the audit). But I'm SURE that our friends with auditing firms will be happy to help us in this fight," he added.

Ari also expressed his unwillingness to remain silent to WAMI representatives—through uploaded conversation evidence. He wants the issue resolved and the public enlightened.

"I will continue to post about this case until it's resolved. I don't want to be accused by musicians or netizens of asking, 'Why is it suddenly quiet? Are there any special deals?'" Ari said. "We're waiting for an OPEN explanation of the calculation formula. The music stakeholders have a right to know."
