BANYUWANGI - Kevin Yosua Trio is one of the performers who filled the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 3 Ijen which was held at the Taman Gandrung Terakota Amphitheater, Java Resort Jiwa, Banyuwangi on Saturday, August 9.
This time, Kevin Yosua (contrabass) with Rio Manuel (keyboards) and Hansen Arief (drums), played with a French trumpet player, Fabien Mary.
The collaboration between Kevin Yosua Trio and Fabien Mary features a series of standard jazz songs, such as I Should Care, Close Your Eyes, Take The A Train, Im Getting Sentintal Over You, All Too Soon, I Will Close My Eyes, and Bean And The Boys.
Kevin revealed, this was his first meeting with Fabien who had just landed in Indonesia two days before the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 3 Ijen held.
This time it's special, because we have a guest star. Fabien only landed two days ago. So we just really talked about what song we will play, but that's where the excitement of playing jazz is," Kevin said when met after his appearance by Ivan Two Putra from VOI.
Even though they just met, they managed to entertain the jazz fans who were present that night. Rain that previously fell did not make the audience leave the Amphitheater area.
In fact, this is jazz performance. Improvization is the main theme that is presented on stage, next to the theme of a song that is familiar to fans.
