Don't Think About The Public View, Laufey Is More Interested In Serving The Truth On The New Album

JAKARTA - Laufey will officially play the third studio album, 'A Matter of Time', on August 22. This album contains 14 tracks, including three of which have already been released, namely 'Silver Lining', 'Tough Luck', and 'Lover Girl'.

The jazz soloist from Iceland said a different approach was taken when working on the latest album. Different from the previous two albums, the songs on A Matter of Time don't contain much hope.

"My self-reflection songs on this album are not very promising. Quite cynical," Laufey said in a recent interview with Highsnobiety.

The 26-year-old singer chose not to think too much about people's views on her new album. He is more interested in speaking honestly through his works.

"With this album, I don't really think about how this album will be accepted by the public and more interested in how this album presents the truth," he added.

Furthermore, Laufey said the production process was different from the two previous albums. He must learn to control the production process in a way he has never done before.

"All of my projects have broken down the rules of pop music, jazz music, and classical music, to achieve the final product which is a mix of all these different things, different voices," said the singer who graduated from Berklee College of Music.

"True or wrong is not important if that's what I want, that's fine," he added.

In addition to the three songs mentioned above, the album A Matter of Time also contains Clockwork, Snow White, Castle in Hollywood, Carousel, Too Little, Too Late, Cuckoo Ballet (Interlude), Forget Me Not, A Cautionary Tale, Mr. Eclectic, Clean Air, and Sabotage.

To develop a voice that balances emotional depth with broader musical influences, Laufey collaborated with Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner as producers.
