Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo expressed his touching final tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness who died on July 22.

Through his Instagram account, Trujillo shared a photo of himself holding a magazine featuring himself as a bassist for Ozzy Osbourne.

"Unfortunately, we are returning to London today to attend Ozzy's funeral," Trujillo wrote, citing a statement on the post, Thursday, July 31.

The 60-year-old bassist said Ozzy was the figure behind the success of many people, including when he was still the bassist of Infectious Grooves.

"Ozzy is a bridge for so many new relationships, both creative collaboration and lasting true friendship," Trujillo said.

"Thanks to Oz, Infectious Grooves can tour in '91 as a new band. And at that time, they weren't even really a band, just a few fun songs we've recorded," he continued. We weren't ready for the tour, but he made us brave and made it happen."

Trujillo also recalled when Ozzy asked him to open the tour, even praising his ability to play bass.

"Ozzy is a man who is humble and sometimes so honest to painful, but his sense of humor makes things really amazing. Tours with Ozzy and Zakk have always been wild adventures. The two of them... are like crazy and incredible roller personalizations. We are all very grateful for his heart and soul," said the bassist.

Ending his last respects, Trujillo called Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath an inspiration to many people, even to his final days.

"Ozzy and Black Sabbath are and are still the soundtracks of our lives. The inspiration they give is not pleasing. In my opinion, they are the first real alternative rock bands," Trujillo said.

"Now is the time to give our last respects, share our love, and give our support to Sharon and her family. It's heartbreaking, but we know Ozzy has given everything in his last days," continued the bassist.

"I am very honored Lars, James, Kirk, and I (Metallica) can celebrate with him, share our music and Sabbath music on a special day in Birmingham. Being a part of that means a lot to us."
