LMKN's Response After Mie Gacoan Manager Becomes Suspect Of Alleged Violation Of Copyright

JAKARTA - The head of the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN), Dharma Oratmangun, responded to the police report of the Indonesian Music License Center (SELMI) which resulted in the appointment of the Director of PT Mitra Bali Sukses, the manager of the Mie Gacoan network in the Bali and outside Java regions, as a suspect by the Bali Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate.

According to Dharma, what was done by one of the Collective Management Institutions (LMK) was the right move, considering that the Mie Gacoan manager had not paid royalties for several years.

"Mefska doesn't pay from 2022, according to data that SELMI reported to me," Dharma said when met in Gambir, Central Jakarta recently.

Dharma said the suspect was one example of a 'naughty' restaurant manager, and needed legal steps to get certainty.

"Good. Yes, we have to process the law to obey the law. Just imagine, we've been asking for it since 2022, but until now it's still annoying," he said.

Asked further about the total royalties to be paid, Dharma chose not to mention it, and allowed SELMI to reveal it in court.
