JAKARTA - Ilham Suwardi as attorney confirmed that his client, Yoni Dores, had reported Lesti Kejora regarding alleged copyright infringement.
He said the police report was based on Lesti's actions, who had performed a cover of the song created by Yoni Dores without permission, and uploaded it to the YouTube platform.
"Regarding the report (on) Lesti Kejora yesterday, yes, as reported. We have made a report at the Polda (Metro Jaya) on May 19, 2025, which is related to copyright infringement," Ilham told the media crew at the South Tangerang Police, Thursday, May 22.
"What we report, namely those who violate Article 113 in conjunction with Article 9 of the Copyright Law," he added.
Not only one song, Ilham said that Lesti had covered several songs created by Yoni, of which the songs were originally sung by Iis Dahlia and Inul Daratista as original singers.
"There are some songs, 'Love Is Not A Ship', 'DRY Ratting Body', ' Crocodile ARjuna', 'Buntung Crocodiles', and others," he said.
Ilham said the cover of the songs had been on YouTube for a long time, and a video had even been uploaded since 2017.
"It's been a long time. However, that's still there. And if we don't take steps from this incident until the following years, this will happen again," he said.
By bringing a cover without permission, Ilham said that Lesti's actions showed her desire to get to know Yoni Dores as a songwriter.
"In fact, he sang someone's song but he didn't want to know the person who created the song. Now that's the problem. If he already knows, there must be communication," said Yoni Dores' attorney.
"If you know him, maybe Mr. Yoni herself too, 'Ah, it's not good,' right. But this is because you don't know him at all," he said.
