JAKARTA - Lesti Kejora is the latest name to face the law regarding copyright. The 35-year-old singer was reported for alleged copyright infringement by songwriter Yoni Dores through his attorney to Polda Metro Jaya.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Ade Ary, confirmed the report, which was made on Sunday, May 18 the day after tomorrow.

"Two days ago we received a criminal report related to intellectual property or in this case a copyright crime, as regulated in Article 113 in conjunction with Article 9 of Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright," said Ade Ary to the media crew at Polda Metro Jaya, Tuesday, May 20.

Ade called the reporter with the initials IS a lawyer, with the victim YM alias YD, and LK as the reported party.

Ade explained, the reported party has covered several songs belonging to the victim since 2028 until now. The problem is that the cover results of the song have been uploaded to several digital platforms, such as YouTube, without the knowledge and permission of the victim as a songwriter.

"For this incident, the victim made a report and is currently being investigated by investigators," said Ade.

Furthermore, Ade also said that the complainant had brought some evidence related to the alleged copyright infringement committed by Lesti Kejora.

"When the reporter arrived, the reporter brought some evidence that was submitted for further investigation, including one flash drive, then there was a statement from the publisher and print out the cover of the song," said Ade.

"So, we have received the report and the team is still investigating," he concluded.
