Still Undergoing Prison Sentences, Zul Zivilia Calls His Royalties Alami Improvement

JAKARTA - Zul Zivilia is still in detention due to a drug case in 2019. However, the 43-year-old singer is still active in music and receives royalties for her works.

Last week, Zul was present as a performer at the Indonesian Prison Products and Arts Festival (IPPA Fest) 2025 at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta.

To the media crew after his appearance, Zul said that royalties obtained from his works have increased in recent times.

As a member of Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI), Zul said that the royalties obtained last time from one of the Collective Management Institutions (LMK) increased rapidly from before.

"From WAMI it used to be small, IDR 800 thousand, but suddenly it's big again," said Zul. Yesterday (got it) IDR 5.6 million from WAMI.

Zul felt that the increase was caused by several of his works that went viral on various digital platforms. He said similar incidents had also happened before.

"When I first went to prison, the song went viral again, the royalties also went up. Then when I was associated with Freddy Pratama, it (the song) immediately went up again," he said.

It is not known which song produces the largest royalties, but some of them are expected to still be heard frequently and included in playlists on a number of platforms, such as 'Aishiteru' and 'Kokorono Tomo'

In addition to receiving royalties from LMK, Zul said that other royalties were obtained from the label. According to him, the income is very helpful to finance his wife and children.

"If there are more from the label, there are more. If there are no royalties, this may be very difficult. You can pay for the child's tuition fee, sometimes you can get royalties directly pay," he concluded.
