Remembering Titiek Puspa, Inul Daratista: 23 Years Of Swelling

JAKARTA - Inul Daratista is one of the singers who felt so lost by the death of Titiek Puspa. He felt his journey in the world of music, could not be separated from his closeness to the deceased.

The 46-year-old singer was in hospital when the legend breathed his last on April 10. He also helped the family he left behind during the seven-day tahlilan of Titiek Puspa's death in Melawai, South Jakarta on Thursday, April 17 evening.

Met by the media crew after tahlilan, Inul said, his relationship with the legend for 23 years since the beginning of his music career in national coverage was a journey full of memories.

Everything (hidden memories). 23 years old must have made an impression. The first moment is still making an impression. In those 23 years, Grandmother (Titiek Puspa) accompanied me, from all the sadness, distress, and everything. Yes, basically there is a story, it's different from the others," said Inul.

Eyang is special in my heart. Because apart from idolizing, Eyang's action is more. And it was the action that made Inul possible to this day. Not only did he help verbally, but the action was all there. That's why he was in the parts of my life, he couldn't forget," he continued.

Remembering the message that Titiek had conveyed, Inul said, his senior always reminded him not to forget to save and be grateful for the blessings God gave him.

'If (messages) Grandmother, 'Don't forget, life is already good, save.' That's the last one,' he said.

Given that many stories went through with the late and all of them had their own impression Inul admitted that all gifts received from Titiek Puspa were always well stored.

"In the seven days (after the death of Titiek Puspa), hopefully, khusnul khotimah and of course all the kindnesss of Grandmother are able to take care of Grandmother there. And of course, not only is there tahlilan this time, but the prayers that we convey to Grandmother every day, hopefully, can make Eyang even better," said Inul.
