Ahmad Dhani Asks To Change Creation For Titiek Puspa During An Open Debate On The Copyright Law

The open debate held by the All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) regarding the Copyright Law was colored by the moment of silence for Titiek Puspa.

As is known, Titiek Puspa as a music legend in the country breathed his last today, Thursday, April 10, after two weeks of hospitalization.

Receiving news that Titiek had passed away to the Creator, Ahmad Dhani, who was the moderator of the debate, asked that the debate participants, consisting of Rayen Pono, Kadri Mohamad, Piyu, Badai, Ari Bias, Minola Sebayang and all those who came to pay their respects to the deceased.

"He has passed away, just now, Grandmother Titiek Puspa. So let's have a moment of silence, one minute, for composer heroes," said Ahmad Dhani on the sidelines of the debate in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

Everyone in the room looked down and prayed for the deceased. Furthermore, Dhani hopes that Titiek Puspa can be listed by the government as a hero composer for Indonesia.

"The moment of silence is over. We propose to the government so that Titiek Puspa becomes a hero for Indonesian composers," said the 19th Dewa frontman.

After the debate, Piyu as the General Chair of the ACTION also stated that his party was ready to help fight for the economic rights of the deceased regarding the performance rights live event.

"We from ACTION are indeed collecting works from songwriters who are still active and who have died. So, we invite the heirs to join ACTION, later we will take care of their works for direct license," said Piyu.

Piyu said, with the direct license system used by members of ACTION, Titiek Puspa's heirs must benefit from the songs written by the deceased during their lifetime.

"So, later with direct license, for example, the song Eyang Titiek Puspa which is 'Mungyu Malam', because in us there will be DDL (Digital Direct License), such as Ariel NOAH singing the song Kupu Kupu Malam, having to direct license to us," said Piyu.

However, the AKSI has not yet held a meeting to seriously talk about the rights of the heirs regarding the works of the late Titiek Puspa. For Piyu, currently the existing moments will be used to pray for the deceased and their bereaved families.

"Yes, we will have a meeting (with the heirs) later. But this is still a mourning atmosphere, we want to wish Eyang Titiek the best first," concluded Piyu.
