Denny Chasmala Calls Andien Apologizes After Bringing His Work Without Permission

JAKARTA - Denny Chasmala is one of the songwriters who believes in the need for permission to perform musical works on the stage of the show. As a member of the All-Indonesian Composter Association (AKSI), he criticized the singers who performed his songs without permission.

In an AKSI press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, two weeks ago, Denny questioned several singers who performed their songs, 'Hopefully Not Separate', without permission.

One of the names mentioned is Andien. Denchas, his nickname, admitted that he received video evidence showing the jazz singer performing his song without permission.

"But don't forget, he didn't give me permission, even though it was very easy, just (pass message) Whatsapp," said Denchas.

But recently, Denchas said, Andien had contacted him to apologize. He has also received an explanation about the video he admitted from someone else.

"I respect Andien," said Denny.

Andien, the next day (after the ACTION press conference) called me. Andien called me, sorry, he didn't know that yesterday he was also asked to sing the song," he continued.

According to Denchas, Andien is one of the few singers who uphold ethics when performing songs created by others.

"But I was happy with what, just like Andien's class he still called me and he apologized. With pleasure (I'm sorry), I'm very happy, showing that Andien has ethics," he said.

Furthermore, Denchas hopes that other singers, including Andien, will have permission before performing their songs.

"I said that if you want to bring (my songs), just bring it, at least permission, so at least he thinks if there is a permit, what should be done," said Denchas.

"But I'm not talking about payment, just permission first, so that the licensing culture is re-established. At least there is a friendship between songwriters and singers, or vice versa," he said.
