Yngwie Malmsteen Reveals Reasons She Is Difficult To Collaborate With Other Musicians

JAKARTA - Among musicians, guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen is known as one of the musicians who has idealism. The outside world sees him as a figure who is solitary to go crazy, and he does not deny it.

In working on his musical works, Yngwie rarely collaborates or involves other musicians. In an interview with La Hora Del Vertigo By Stairway To Rock, he admitted that he was often misunderstood.

"First of all, I want to explain something very clearly to people like you without intending to offend your writers. Some of you have misunderstood who I am, what I am doing, and what my principles are," he said. from Blabbermouth, March 10.

The guitar virtuoso then explained behind his attitude of rarely entrusting something to others, especially about work. Apparently there is an influence from the past that forms the way he works.

"When I grew up in Sweden I wouldn't talk about it, really, but the environment there was not very friendly for musicians who aspired to high," explained the 61-year-old musician. "It's not considered a real job if you're a musician, composer, or anything else. So, I don't feel at home there," he explained.

Yngwie remembers a moment when he made music with other people. He felt uncomfortable with the way his partner played, which then made him want to do everything on his own.

"Friday we performed. At that time we were eight years old. I played with amplifiers and feedback and the like, and this guy just held back the tap. Since that day, I became the author, the main guitar player, the main singer everything," he explained.

Yngwie Malmsteen agrees that his crazy attitude in control may be bad. But only in that way can he feels he can realize his vision into a work.

"If you want, you [can] call me a control crazy person. Please. Call me like that all day long. I am guilty. I decide when the smoke engine will turn on. I decide what color of the lights will be used in the light frame. I decide exactly what will be intro, what will not be intro. I design the whole show, everything, every night," he said.
