Lamb Of God Vocalist: No Grammy Means Anything To Me

Randy Blythe revealed the reasons for ignoring the Grammys (Instagram @lambofgod)

JAKARTA - For many musicians, Grammys are a prestigious and proud event. But for Randy Blythe, he was completely meaningless.

This was revealed by the Lamb of God frontman when he was a guest on The Jasta Show podcast. This event was hosted by Jamey Jasta, the vocalist of the band Hatebreed.

When asked if he was monitoring the Grammys, Randy admitted that he didn't watch. But he was also happy when he heard that GOJIRA won Best Metal Performance at the event.

"No, bro. I didn't watch it (Grmen). I'm glad GOJIRA won, and I always support them. But I've never watched Grammys," Randy quoted Blabbermouth as saying, February 24.

Randy reasoned that the Grammys are awards that do not fully understand metal music. He criticized The Recording Academy, a Grammy initiator who felt he had not paid the same attention in all categories, and he got information about this from a source.

"Most of the members of The Recording Academy, and I've been told about this, they don't know much about metal. Because you have to choose for each category. You can't be like, 'I love metal. I'm a member of The Recording Academy. I will choose this, because that's my expertise.' No. You have to choose for each category," he explained.

This made the election considered not objective. According to him, the members are forced to choose fields that they are not really good at.

So half the time, a member of The Recording Academy, who is a member of the record industry, or whatever, hand it over to their secretary and say, 'This content.' This is not a jury consisting of your annoying colleagues," he added.

"Cited from Flavor Flav, who cares about Grammys? Not me. I don't care. I don't care about gifts and I don't need cake. If I make what I like, it's cool. If it's important to other people, all right. But I don't care."
