JAKARTA - Record Store Day (RSD) as an annual event to celebrate independent music recording stores and its role in music culture, appointed Post Malone as ambassador for this year's event.

In the latest update ahead of the 2025 RSD, the organizers have confirmed through the official website that Post Malone will take on the role of ambassador

"It's an honor, I can't believe I was elected to the Duta Record Store Day for 2025," Post Malone said, citing a statement on the official website of the RSD, Thursday, January 23.

"Record Store Day is very important and I really hope to do my part to keep it alive," he continued.

For the musician with the birth name Austin Richard Post, the decision to become an RSD ambassador is an easy choice, given his preference for visiting local record stores.

"We enjoy visiting local shops while we travel, seeing all the crazy works of art. All the energy in the record store is very inspiring. I feel like I'm at home. It's a feeling that can't be explained to visit the store and search between crates, just seeing what catches your attention," said the Post.

"You can look for something very specific and finally find something completely different. That's the best. Keep supporting and let's keep these local recordings and shops strong," he added.

With his current role, Post Malone continues other musicians who have also been RSD ambassadors, including St. Vincent, Taylor Swift, Elton John, Noel Gallagher, The 1975, and Dave Grohl.

Meanwhile, this year's RSD is the 28th edition, with the event which will be held on April 12.

In Indonesia itself, RSD was last held for two days at Senayan Park, Central Jakarta, on 27 and 28 April 2024.
