Glastonbury Festival Creates Competition For New Musicians To Appear On The Main Stage Of This Year

JAKARTA - As a music festival that has received worldwide attention, the Glastonbury Festival not only presents big names, they also provide opportunities for new musicians and music groups who are starting their music path.

Through the official website, Glastonbury launched the Emerging Talent competition for 2025, which is given the opportunity for new artists to appear at this year's festival.

The competition is free, but unfortunately only those from England and Ireland can participate.

Meanwhile, contestants from any music genre were asked to register during the period January 27 - February 3, visiting the official Glastonbury Festival website.

Later, the contestants will compete for a place on one of the main stages in Glastonbury 2025. The winners will also get a Talent Development prize of 5,000 (Rp100 million) from the PRS Foundation, to help bring their songwriting and performances to their next level.

Launching NME, the organizers stated, "committed to diversity and inclusiveness and we welcome the entry of people with disabilities, which we will support to ensure they are not harmed by the process."

This competition will be followed by a panel of 30 British music writers. They will help compile a long list of 90 artists from the entry. This list will then be narrowed down to eight artists selected by the jury, including Glastonbury organizer Michael and Emily Eavis.

"We know how difficult it is for a new artist to take the first step towards a career in music, especially with the challenges small places in the country, so the Emerging Talent Competition is a very important part of the Glastonbury annual calendar," said Emily Eavis.

"I can't wait to hear the entries of all the music genres. And the registration is free, so you won't lose anything," he concluded.
