Rosé Expresses Her View On The Attitude Of An Idol In K-Pop Fan Culture

JAKARTA - Ahead of the release of his solo debut album, Rosé Blackpink expressed his views on the culture of K-pop fans and how an idol should behave.

As is well known, Rosé grew up in Australia by her parents who are immigrants from South Korea.

At the age of 15, Rosé went to her parents' country of origin to become a trainee (trainer to become an idol). Then in August 2016, she debuted with Blackpink under YG Entertainment.

During the latest interview with The New York Times, the singer with the birth name Roseanne Park admitted that she had to train herself since the trainee to adapt to the K-pop fan culture.

"We are trained to always present ourselves in the most perfect way," Rosé said.

"So, even as we interact with online fans, that's when I'm ready to give them the perfect answer and give them what they want. And make sure I'm the perfect girl for everyone."

The 27-year-old singer said that the persona that was shown as a K-pop idol was something she had to learn, since becoming a trainee, debuting, and pursuing her music career.

"I feel the transition from having to appear in front of the camera and become an artist and show the world who I am. That is something we must learn over time," he said.

Early years became very difficult for him, but he continued to learn and accept this culture.

To date, almost a decade of being an idol, Rosé admits that she has to face some difficulties to present herself in the most perfect way

"In my opinion, it is still difficult. Since then, this process has never stopped," he said.

Although K-pop culture became the foundation as an artist, Rosé said her debut album would try to be different.

"There were times when I thought: 'Wait, let's say this? Wait, maybe we shouldn't put that word in there. Maybe it's too much. Shouldn't we do it?'"

For information, Rosé has introduced the second single from her debut album, number one girl. This song follows the release of APT which was performed with Bruno Mars.

The album 'rosie' itself is planned for full release on December 6.
