JAKARTA - The Panturas surf rock quartet will officially release the latest extended play (EP) or mini album with the title Tropicika League on Friday, November 22.
This album contains six songs, two of which have already been released, namely 'Lasut Nangkut' on October 4 and 'Jimat' on October 25.
Abyan Acin (guitar, vocals), Rizal Taufik (guitar), Bagus 'Gogon' (bass), and Surya Fikri (drums) tried to present their identities as Jatinangor people, using Sundanese for all songs that were included in the new EP.
Not enough just with lyrics, the music arrangement also has the nuances of the traditional Sundanese song.
For The Panturas, almost all of the manufacturing processes on this album are very interesting, from workshops to launches.
Each member admitted that they carried out many new explorations and patterns in the cultivation of the 'Tropialika Gala' material, a way they had never worked on previous albums.

"I feel a lot of new things we can find, we do a lot of new explorations and patterns," said Surya Fikri, who is familiarly called Kuya, through a press release to VOI, Thursday, November 21.
"The biggest thing is that we were able to turn the direction of the music we played into an area that is very familiar with our homeland, namely Pasundan Earth," he said.
The writing of the lyrics is the most challenging thing in composing songs, because the Sundanese language is considered quite complicated. However, Rizal actually felt helped by the language used because of his childhood memory related to old Sundanese, SATurary, and fairy tale.
"In the end, we just write what we want to write, follow the word of the heart," said the guitarist.
The Panturas also composed Sundanese pop songs entitled Talak Tilu, written by Kosman Jaya which was first popularized by Upit Sarimanah. In addition, they also invited the legendary pop musician Sunda, Doel Sumbang, to collaborate on one of the tracks entitled Jimat.
At this EP, The Panturas hooked Ricky Virgana (WSATCC) as producer. It affects how songs became thick with pop-dasco styles from 1970 to 1980s.
Meanwhile, Om Robo (Southern Beach Terror/Sundancer) participated in filling out the guitar, assisted by other collaborator musicians such as Panji Wisnu (keyboard/synth), Rezki Delian (percussion), and Andri (pencak tarumpet).
"Luckily, the writing and production of this song was assisted by Ricky Virgana, who was already capable in that area. We are looking for a middle way between Disco music and a check guitar in the style of The Panturas," said Kuya.
"Hopefully the album can be accepted and listeners of The Panturas today can still enjoy our music without problems with language differences," he added.
The release of the Tropicalika EP is also planned to be present in the form of tours and showcases, in the hope that they can be delivered directly in front of listeners in various cities in Indonesia or even abroad.
