JAKARTA - The founder of hard rock band Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl will publish a memoir. The Storyteller - hence the title, published by Simon & Schuster in the UK and Dey Street Books in the US, on 5 October.

The book is rooted in Grohl's Dave's True Stories Instagram account. According to his publisher, it will be a musical celebration of the moments that have shaped Grohl into the man he is today.

"From funny childhood accidents, touching family moments, leaving home to see the world at the age of 18, to spectacular stories about Nirvana, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop, Paul McCartney," Simon & Schuster's Department of Public Relations reported from Loudersound, Wednesday, April 7.

"(Also) drumming for Tom Petty on Saturday Night Live, performing at the White House, and even dancing with AC/DC, with love, laughter, loss, and shame throughout his career, The Storyteller is an interesting look at a life that lives hard."

Meanwhile, Grohl reveals that there's a common thread in everything he does: "Storytelling. Whether in a song, documentary or on the page, I always feel compelled to share moments from my life. This tendency is a big part of what excites me creatively but also as a human being."

"In March 2020, realizing that my daily work with Foo Fighters would be put on hold, I started an Instagram account and decided to focus all my creative energy on writing some of my stories, something I love to do but I never really had time for that.

"Now with the wonderful people at Simon & Schuster, I am thrilled and honored to announce The Storyteller, a collection of memories of a life that lived so loudly," he continued.

The Storyteller, according to Grohl's version, tells the story of his early days growing up in suburban Washington, D.C., to travel at age 18, and all the music that followed.

"Now I can share this adventure with the world, as seen and heard from behind a microphone. Turn it on!"
