St Vincent Bluntly Calls John Mayer's Song Misogynistic

JAKARTA - St. Vincent openly criticized one of John Mayer's old hits. According to the owner of the real name Annie Clark, John's song was one of the worst songs ever composed by musicians.

He made this statement in his interview with Kerrang! not long ago. The song in question is John Mayer's Daughters which was released in 2003.

"The song is very sexist, but disguised like a love song," said St. Vincent, quoted from the NME page, Tuesday, August 6.

Not only about the misogynistic lyrics, but Annie was annoyed with the way the musician marketed them like a romantic song.

"It's a setback, I really hate it. It feels very misogynistic, which is actually up to him, but he pretends it's a sweet song," he said.

In the interview St. Vincent also revealed works that inspired him to make music. Steely's Fire in the Hole Dan is one that he really enjoys on the trip. While Nick Cave & the Bad's song Into My Arms he calls the most perfect love song ever.

Despite St. Vincent's criticism, John Mayer's song Daughters reaped massive success in his era. The song even won the Grammys in 2005 as Song of the Year.
