Dwiki Dharmawan Believes Indonesian Young People Are Proud And Confident In Indonesian Music

JAKARTA - A sense of pride and confidence in domestic products is the key to Indonesia's progress. Likewise with music as a cultural product, there must be pride from the community for the works of Indonesian musicians.

Dwiki Dharmawan, who has been in the music world since the early 1980s and continues to transform with his music, stated that conditions in Indonesia are now much better.

The Krakatau keyboardist said there was a sense of pride and confidence from young people towards domestic music, from mainstream to traditional music.

"Yes, the condition is now that young Indonesians are proud and confident of Indonesian music," said Dwiki Dharmawan when met in Gambir, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, March 5.

"You could say Indonesian music has hosted it in its own country, liked by its young people," he continued.

That way, Dwiki said Indonesian musicians are also increasingly confident in the works they produce.

Reflecting on his experience as Chairman of the Indonesian Music Award Foundation last period, Dwiki saw the fact that musicians were increasingly confident in their enthusiasm for registering their works to be nominated.

"I have been the Chair of AMI for six years, I can see that from works that are included in Indonesian music people," concluded Dwiki Dharmawan.
