JAKARTA - The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the production of musical works has divided world musicians in responding to it, support and disagreements have been voiced over and over again.

In Indonesia alone, not many musical works have been found that actually use AI. However, further studies must be carried out to anticipate things that harm the music industry players themselves.

Endah Widiastuti, who graduated from Pelita Harapan Conservatory of Music University, is of the need for discussion regarding AI and music. That way, music actors can also find out the results of a study conducted by the world of universities.

"Maybe in some majors it should be discussed, so that we can find out more about this technology. Because I think this is a kind of new technology, especially since he can be attached to the creative world. And we have to know," said Endah Widiastuti when contacted by VOI some time ago.

"The goal of going to college is indeed to study this more deeply, continue to see whether this has an impact on the community or not. What if it has a positive impact, and what if it has a negative impact," he continued.

Endah does not know for sure the extent of the discussion on AI at Indonesian universities, but she hopes that there will be an active role in the academic community in reviewing its impact on society.

"Actually, this knowledge must be included, whether it has to be in the curriculum or just a discussion. But I think it is necessary, because it is a knowledge, and from there studies will appear regarding the use of AI in the community," said Endah.

"For example, there is a music technology department, this should be in the discussion, yes," he added.

Meanwhile, Reza Ryan, who graduated from the Music Department, Yogyakarta's Indonesian Art Institute, mentioned the need for learning about AI to maintain scientific relevance with today's developing technology.

"If AI itself needs to be taught in the world of music creation on music campuses, I think the human world is very dynamic, so it is necessary. Music will definitely be a dynamic object too," he said.

Reza feels that the music and science colleges he studies must be able to meet the needs of the community and industry today, if he does not want to be abandoned.

"Why does the development of technology need to be included in the music curriculum, because knowledge must have benefits, he is not only beautiful, we see above the sky, but he must have benefits, must be able to go down to earth. If science cannot reach the needs of today, it will also be abandoned," concluded Reza Ryan.
