Single Shadow Of Life Marks The Birth Of The EP Perdana Zirah

JAKARTA - Zirah released their first self-titled mini album (EP). This EP contains three previously released songs, namely Pusaka Pertiwi, Merduka, and Who You Are, as well as two new songs Bayangan Hidup and Song Zirah.

With the umbrella of social criticism as its main theme, EP Zirah reveals the opinions of each personnel regarding the surrounding conditions. Alyssa Isnan (vocals) wrote Kuasa, Anissa Yasmin (bass) through Merduka, Raissa Faranda (guitar) with Who You Are, and Talitha Mailangkay (drums) behind Pusaka Pertiwi. Shadow of Life is a song that was released in conjunction with the EP Zirah, an opening that provides an overview of the wheel of life. As a lyricist, Talitha Mailangkay tells a little about the process of writing this song,

"It's as simple as life, things start to cycle. We will never wait for a break, if we never feel tired. We will never know that we are happy, if we are never sad. We don't realize how precious the moment we have is until it's gone. And many others. The bottom line here: life is hard, yeah. This song is also equipped with a video clip by Ravi Septrian, Cahaya Muhammad, Nalendra Samudro and Talitha Mailangkay which aired on the Zirah YouTube channel.

Written by Anissa Yasmin, Merduka, which is the second track in this EP, is a construction on the words merdeka and grief which are expected to provide a new perspective on independence. According to him, as long as the person is still living based on a mere thousand principles, freedom is only artificial.

Who You Are was created by Raissa Faranda when she completed her education in Bali. According to him, at that time he was in the midst of poser people or those who just followed trends without making any sense. In short, this song invites people to think critically and reflect on the process of searching for identity.

Departing from Alyssa Isnan's experience as someone who has entered the world of work for the first time, the song Kuasa as the fourth track in the EP Zirah tries to criticize the demands of the boss. Sometimes, there are orders that don't make sense and orders that come from mere power.

Pusaka Pertiwi was previously released as Zirah's first single on June 21, 2019. Written by Talitha Mailangkay, this song is a romanticization of her experience with wasp oil as a solution when she fell ill. However, Talitha still has to deal with daily activities that never stop. According to him, wasp oil should be called the heirloom of Mother Earth because of its usefulness which is still relevant until now.

The song Zirah is another track that was released at the same time as the EP and has been named the last song. Although impressed as a parody full of witty lyrics, this song became a personal number, an appreciation from Zirah for the environment they live in, POTS. Departing from stories and jokes when hanging out, as well as the behavior of everyone he meets, Zirah combines these elements into an anthemic song.
